The Gulfstream IV (or G-IV or GIV ) and derivatives are a family of twinjet aircraft, mainly for private or business use. They were designed and built by Gulfstream Aerospace , a General Dynamics company based in Savannah, Georgia , United States , from 1985 until 2018. Aircraft power is provided by two Rolls-Royce RB.183 Tay turbofans .

Upon delivery of the last G450, over 900 GIV/GIV-SP/G450 units had been produced. The last G450 was delivered on 19 January 2018 after 365 deliveries over 12 years, ending a 30-year production run, to be replaced by the G500 . [1]

In addition to the innovative wing design, the Gulfstream IV also became the first business jet to have an entire glass cockpit. [7] The first GIV made its maiden flight on September 19, 1985. [8] The model received type certification from the FAA on April 22, 1987. [9] The G-IV entered into service with serial number 1000 in 1987 and was upgraded to the special purpose GIV-SP version at serial number 1214 in 1993. It was later redesignated G400 at serial number 1500. [10]

The Turkish elite is in a state of shock after one of its chosen daughters was killed when a private jet carrying her home from an overseas bachelorette party crashed into an Iranian mountain range.

Mina Basaran, 28, one of the country’s most high-profile socialites and one of its few native Instagram stars, was killed with six of her friends and three crew this weekend as they flew home from celebrations to mark her planned wedding.

Sources in Turkey told The Daily Beast that two of the other young women on board the jet were pregnant, compounding the horror of the disaster among Turkey’s close-knit elite.

Boeing Co. is discussing a “potential combination” with Brazil’s Embraer SA, the companies said, a blockbuster deal that would expand the U.S. aerospace giant’s lineup of commercial and military aircraft.

The talks have centred on a takeover, with Boeing offering Embraer a substantial premium over its US$3.7 billion market value, the Wall Street Journal said Thursday. Any tie-up would need to be approved by the Brazilian government, the companies said in a statement.

The acquisition would be Boeing’s largest since it bought U.S. rival McDonnell Douglas Corp. in 1997 and would advance a consolidation wave sweeping through the aerospace sector. Boeing would gain an aircraft offering in the 100-seat category to counter a new threat from Airbus SE, which agreed in October to take control of Bombardier Inc. ’s CSeries program — the target of a trade complaint brought by Boeing.
